Full Module Description
This module focuses on methods for solving differential equations and partial differential equations, including mathematical modelling, integral calculus, initial value problems, and Laplace transforms. It also introduces the concepts of power series and their use in engineering applications. Throughout this module, these mathematical concepts are reinforced through engineering applications and industry-standard computational solutions.
Module Topics:
Sequences and Series, Maclaurin and Taylor Series, Differential Equations, First order differential Equations, Second order Differential Equations, Mathematical modelling, Laplace transform and solving differential equations with Laplace transform, Initial Value problems, Applications of Partial Differential Equations (PDE), PDE solution by separation of variables

Module learning outcomes
Demonstrate understanding how to calculate power series expansions and have an appreciation of the applications in engineering analysis.
Apply mathematical principles of differential equations to model, solve and analyse engineering problems.
Utilise computational tools to solve mathematical and engineering problems.
