Full Module Description
This module develops core mathematical methods that are essential for engineering analysis, blending theory with practical computation using industry-standard tools such as MATLAB. You will explore complex numbers, vectors, matrices and the eigenstructure of linear systems. The module builds strong foundations in differential and integral calculus, including multivariable calculus and partial derivatives, and extends integration techniques to real engineering problems using surface, volume and line integrals. Throughout this module, mathematical concepts are reinforced through engineering applications and computational solutions.
Module Topics
Complex Numbers, vectors, matrices, eigenvectors and eigenvalues of a matrix, differential calculus, calculus of several variables, partial Derivatives, Jacobian, integration techniques and applications, surface and volume integrals, line, surface and volume integrals involving vectors.
