Research Project (Management) (756N1)

30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)

All year

On this module, you’ll undertake a significant independent piece of research, drawing on the knowledge and skills that you’ve learned throughout your course. You’ll:

• apply concepts, theories and research techniques
• draw on internationally published literature
• develop and interpret knowledge about management practice.

You’ll write a dissertation on the management-related topic of your choice, including the following sections:

• abstract
• introduction
• literature review
• methodology
• finding
• conclusions
• reflection
• references.

You’ll be given detailed instructions and guidelines on these sections, as well as the assessment requirements and marking criteria. You’ll also be supervised by a member of academic staff on a one-to-one basis.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 3 hours of contact time and about 297 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
